PHOTO OF THE MONTHJune 1, 2011
My whole stay at Davao this past May/June was like a grand reminder of why I like the city. I admit, the city’s infectious — infectious in a different way from this town and the big city.
This picture was shot one hot afternoon when I walked from a government agency to a nearby convenience store. Walking along a road you’ve been driving through during the previous years feels…liberating. You start to pay attention to the love and chaos that surrounds you; the art pops out and your taste buds wake up. It’s refreshing. There’s a lot more street art (some people call them vandalism) along a street near this corner. I think I’ll blog about them all soon.
I remember way back in 2006 passing through this same corner and seeing a group of gutterpunks talking to the police. And how badly I wanted to get out and talk to them.

PHOTO OF THE MONTHMay 14, 2011
May and June has been mooshed together in my head that everything got mixed up and I lost track of shit and thus this is a month overdue. Sorry about that.
Anyway. This one weekend, when my mom went to her mom’s and my dad went to his dad’s, my dad had us represent them in this local company’s stockholders’ meeting shindig. Didn’t really know what to expect. Dad just said to show up, check in, and listen. And so we did. We ended up being a tad bit underdressed. Apparently, it was a four-course luncheon gathering of old people and a few young ones. No offense. It was hella fun.

PHOTO OF THE MONTHApril 22, 2011
April is my new favorite month. This year’s April has just been so rad. I got to spend a couple of days with my best buddies in the city, dip myself in pools and beaches and whatever-body-of-water-Flatrocks-is, partake in traditional festivities of a far away town, have meaningful conversations with some friends, eat a whole lot of food, write some of the happiest lines yet, and see (well, not technically, we were just at the sidelines) one of my best buds graduate. I am fully aware that I may never be rewarded this much anytime soon, and that my body and my pocket may be cursing my existence right now, but the experience I’ve had, the sights I’ve seen, the things I’ve learned, the genuine smiles I’ve had to suppress in public places, and the conversations I’ve been a part of are hard to put a price on. If you’ve been part of my April, thank you thank you thank you so much.

PHOTO OF THE MONTHMarch 20, 2011
Another photo that lacks a large chunk of creativity. Sorry. March has been such a whirlwind of academic obligations and weekend-less existence. So everything in my gallery are pictures of coffee, food, and a whole lot of handouts/notes —nothing special. See, I transform into this lifeless drowned-in-academics powered-by-coffee creature on the last month of the semester (October and March). So yeah.
This is a failed attempt to put some umph to my instant coffee.

PHOTO OF THE MONTHFebruary 10, 2011
Let me just say, IT HAS BEEN THE BEST FEBRUARY YET. There’s just so much things that went down in one month, it would take me almost a week to blabber about its rollercoaster-ness. Between the LB bands, local bands, and one international band (Yellowcard, baby) I’ve seen live, the awesome company I spent my days with, the things I’ve experienced and learned about, the sights I’ve seen and the places I’ve been, the sounds I’ve heard and the inspiration my soul has absorbed, …the downs are just shruggable. And what’s more awesome is that I remember EVERYTHING. Here’s to sobriety!
I know there could have been a better photo of the month I could post, but everything is just too over the top. So I just went back to basics and thank Father Sky (what up VersaEmerge) for making a lot of us just love February. Yeah.

January 2, 2011
One of the perks of going to college 700+ miles away from home is that I get to fly back and forth. I just love to travel. There isn’t so much luggage drama in this country, except for a few theft cases here and there. But no airline has ever lost or destroyed anything of mine.

December 31, 2010NEW YEAR’S EVE, baby
I call this the Pink Iceberg. Haha. It’s actually a Gatorade Pink Lemonade frozen half way and forced out of the bottle. Looks so good, you’d think it’s a gay Margarita. No offense.

There’s something really cool with the Halloween season that makes me feel all tingly, I don’t know what it is though. I wish this country took Halloween seriously. The whole deal of All Souls/All Saints is also awesome for me. It’s a day people get together without any religious or political obligation or whatever. If Thanksgiving is celebrated in the Philippines, it’ll probably be my favorite holiday. Oh yeah.

EDIT: I just saw this load up to my blog just now. And it’s December 15th. But that’s okay, Tumblr. We’re still cool. :)

I apologize for the major lack in creativity of this shot. October was a baby step close to anarchy and my academics demanded a large chunk of my time.
So this is a picture of my USB Flash Drive when I cracked it open. Ever since I was a kid, I had a knack of taking apart some of my things and putting them back together. I loved to take all the screws out of a radio and see what would happen. My parents just let me be because they thought I was on some sort of path to greatness. I hope they’re not disappointed yet. Haha. Yeah. So there.

A little disclaimer for all you dweebs. All the pictures I took for the month of September just disappeared on my phone. I was originally gonna post this very raw shot of my toes on black sand over at that place I cannot pronounce, but then technology ate me. Thankfully I remembered I shot some things using Lean’s camera when we went to this tattoo expo.
Alright. So this picture is a weird paparazzi-ish shot of this girl who had this awesome tattoo. Most people would find this much body art disgusting and very ex-convict-like but I think this looks beautiful. I pity them narrow minded people.

This place is kinda hard to reach, but it’s nearly as rewarding as it should be. Good piece of the forest though. :)

PS Don’t ask me specifically what I did to get to achieve this picture. Simply put, I am a hormonal adolescent with different interests as with the rest of the world. And Jul25 was a Sunday. Let your imagination do the explaining. ;)
