Life Lessons version XVII
As some of the people in my life know, I became a part of the restaging of Para Kay B last week. For the two and a half weeks we have spent as part of the music wing of the said production, I have learned and gained a few things.
An escalated level of respect. Unlike most of the engineering people, I have this different stereotype for communication majors. I always thought they spend most nights writing and staging shows and shit. BUT NO. The discipline each and every one of them have is far beyond the understanding of us formula-spitting students. Let’s just say that it is an all student production (no grade was on the line). So they weren’t just working for it just to make it through college. Words can’t explain it.
The discipline challenge. I have [once again] proven to myself that sleep is not an issue. I mean, if you want something so bad, you can do away with the staple hours of sleep needed to make way for the things you want/love to do. So yeah, for the beginning of February, I have been juggling thesis work with the play and band shits.
I am no longer afraid of nuns. I have been afraid of nuns since I was in grade school. I don’t know what reasons I have for this but it is what it is. The uniform just give me the bajeebies. I would alight the jeepney if a nun would hop on. I was THAT afraid. So how did this weird fear come to an end? Dude, I’m telling you, if you saw the shenanigans that went down that one faithful lunch break, yeah. Haha. This is by far the biggest contribution the entire thing has brought into my life.
A wider network. Being able to dabble in this field of work is too much for my head to handle. I got to mingle with people I wouldn’t have crossed paths with otherwise. There are now more people I will be getting to smile to when walking around town. In short, I have gained new friends! :)
Getting to meet Ricky Lee. Ricky Lee dropped by the last show to watch the play . He even had the time to sign a lot of things here and there. What I loved the most is how humbled he was by the production. And how he leaves a bit of himself for every autograph. I mean, his autographs were personalized, man. ‘Nuff said.
For the record, this is the most all-over-the-place serious blog I have written thus far. I’m sorry for the low quality formal language this thing has. But I just wanted to get it out there.
Props to everyone who are part of Para Kay B.
EDIT: I would like to boast the signed playbill I have. Haha.
